Opalite Memory Wire Bracelet
Memory wire bracelets are quick and easy to make, the only technique you need to know is how to make a simple loop and how to make a wrapped loop.
The joy of memory wire is that it will fit any wrist size, the wire just wraps around and holds its shape.
To make this memory wire bracelet you will need.
- 4 Pink 8mm Round Cat's Eye Beads
- 6 Pink 4mm Square Cat's Eye Beads
- 14 Crystal 6mm Fire-Polished Beads (AB)
- 5 Rosaline 8mm Fire-Polished Beads (AB)
- 6 Matt Crystal 6mm Round Glass Beads (AB)
- 80 Opalite Chips
- 2 Stardust 8mm Silver Plated Beads
- 4.5 turns of Silver Plated Memory Wire
- 2 Silver Plated 2 inch Head Pins
- 4 Tierracast Leaf Beads 8mm (Silver Plated)
- 14 Tierracast Leaf 5mm Beadcaps (Silver Plated)
- 4 Tierracast Twisted 6mm Spacer (Silver Plated)
- 6 Tierracast Flat 6mm Beaded Spacer (Silver Plated)
- Round nose pliers
- Strong Wire Cutters or Memory Wire cutters
Any chips can be subsituted for the Opalite chips just change the colour of the other beads to match.
Instructions
Step 1
Cut 4 and a half turns of memory wire using a pair of very strong cutters or memory wire cutters.
Memory wire is extremely tough and can damage normal wire cutters.
Turn a simple loop at one end of the memory wire.
Step 2
Thread on:
- 1 Pink 4mm Square Cat's Eye Beads
- 1 Tierracast Flat 6mm Beaded Spacer (Silver Plated)
- 1 Matt Crystal 6mm Round Glass Beads (AB)
- 1 Crystal 6mm Fire-Polished Bead (AB)
- 1 Tierracast Leaf 5mm Beadcap (facing towards the next bead)
- 1 Rosaline 8mm Fire-Polished Beads (AB)
- 1 Tierracast Leaf 5mm Beadcap (facing towards the Rosaline 8mm bead just strung)
- 1 Crystal 6mm Fire-Polished Beads (AB)
- 1 Matt Crystal 6mm Round Glass Beads (AB)
- 1 Tierracast Flat 6mm Beaded Spacer (Silver Plated)
- 1 Pink 4mm Square Cat's Eye Beads
Step 3
Thread on:
- 20 Opalite Chip Beads
Step 4
Thread on:
- 1 Crystal 6mm Fire-Polished Bead (AB)
- 1 Tierracast Leaf Bead 8mm (Silver Plated)
- 1 Pink 8mm Round Cat's Eye Beads
- 1 Tierracast Twisted 6mm Spacer (Silver Plated)
- 1 Crystal 6mm Fire-Polished Beads (AB)
- 1 Tierracast Leaf 5mm Beadcap(facing towards the next bead)
- 1 Silver Sparkle 8mm Round Beads
- 1 Tierracast Leaf 5mm Beadcap (facing towards the Silver Sparkle Bead just strung)
- 1 Crystal 6mm Fire-Polished Beads (AB)
- 1 Tierracast Twisted 6mm Spacer (Silver Plated)
- 1 Pink 8mm Round Cat's Eye Beads
- 1 Tierracast Leaf Bead 8mm (Silver Plated)
- 1 Crystal 6mm Fire-Polished Bead (AB)
Step 5
Thread on another:
- 20 Opalite Chip Beads
Step 6
Repeat Step 2 above
Thread on another 20 Opalite Chips
Repeat Step 4 above
Thread on another 20 Opalite Chips
Repeat Step 2 above
Trim the memory wire to 1cm past the last bead strung and turn another simple loop.
Step 7
Pick up one of the 2 inch headpins and thread on
Attach to the end of the memory wire using a wrapped loop.
Remember to put the headpin on the memory wire before doing the final part of the wrapped loop otherwise it is more difficult to attach.
If you do forget to put the dangle on the memory wire open the loop on the end of the memory wire by twisting it sideways with 2 pairs of pliers. Add the dangle and then twist the loop to close it again.
Make another dangle, in the same way, and attach to the loop on the other end of the memory wire.
That's it your beautiful bracelet is finished.
