Using Black and White in Jewellery Design

Bookmark and Share

Black and white are two colours that do not appear on the colour wheel. However using them together can create dramatic jewellery.

Pearl White Ceylon Delica Beads (size 11)
Rainbow Moonstone 8mm Round Beads

Unusually it doesn't matter what proportion of black and white beads you use. If you use exactly half of each it will still look as good as if you used less white than black beads or less black than white beads.

Using White and black with other colours

Using Black with pure, warm colours, such as red or orange, can make the warm colours appear even more vibrant.

However, using warm colours with white will have the opposite effect and the warm colour may appear washed out or drained.

In contrast white can look really effective with cool colours such as blues and greens.
