The nylon jaws on these pliers help to protect the wire from plier marks.
I find these pliers invaluable for straightening wire. I hold one end of the wire in a pair of chain nose, or flat nose pliers, in my non-dominant hand. I hold the nylon nosed pliers in my other hand.
I then put the nylon pliers on the wire, next to the other pair of pliers, and draw them along the wire, straightening kinks and bends as I go. For step by step photographs see our jewellery tutorial page on straightening wire.
